April 5 is RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network)
Day. RAINN Day is the day of action for sexual violence awareness in college
campuses.
As stated by RAINN.org, sexual violence is heavily prevalent
in college compared to other crimes. Did you know, student or not, college-aged
women are highly risked for sexual violence? According to RAINN.org, 1 in 6 college-aged
women have sought assistance for sexual violence-related cases. Among both undergraduate
and graduate students in college campuses, 11.2% (8.8% females and 2.2% males) have
experienced sexual assault in the form of physical force, violence, or
incapacitation, according to RAINN.org.
Colleges and universities are taking steps to reduce and end
sexual assault, such as having campus law enforcement officials and staff
members responsible for sexual assault cases.
Be sure to find out how you can help prevent sexual assault
in your campus! #SAAM #RAINNDay #PacificPartnersProject
